Buying a bike from Ebay? - SV650.org

Ok, has anyone purchased a so road going/legal bike off of eBay and how did it go. I am intending to get something a little bigger this year and their seems to be cuffing good deals out there. Did you end up with a minger or did you get a sweet sound beautie of a bike?

I have bought both my bikes of "Flea-bay" and aside from a Hay lorry I have had no issues...

I have bought 2 bikes through Ebay, both time good communication, as described and an excellent price.

simples, if it is not as they claim walk away. Never pay up front

I've sold bikes through eBay all is good but dont be afraid to walk away if its not as described

got mine through ebay, got a right bargain on a really tidy bike,

as everyone has said, if you dont feel right about it, or something looks amiss, just leave it.

Devils advocate.
Be careful, I was at a car garage this week and police showed up with 20K car
It had been bought from ebay, hpi check done etc. Reg and Vin all ok.
NO, it was cloned, Vins had been doctored (very professionally) only came to light when he bought road tax, dvla contacted police as 2 cars had applied for tax at opposite ends of country.
Guy who bought it lost everything, hpi insurance does not cover cloned cars, only that the reg and vin you are checking is ok.
Just a word of warning.

I got my SV from the bay of evil, no sweat deal, apart from the train trip to London to pick it up.

I bought a nearly new Daytona through ebay. I gave a small deposit and spoke to the fella on the phone a few times. I made it clear that as I was driving from London to Inverness to get it, if it wasn't as expected I wouldn't be a very happy man. It was and I am!

I think good genuine bike's owner shouldn't be afraid to talk on the phone or offer viewings.
