Default Which braided brake lines for SV650?

I'm thinking of changing my stock front brake lines to braided ones. The HEL lines seem very popular here but they seem to sell them as a kit, front and rear. I'm not after replacing the rear as they're too strong as they are for my riding style already. Do you recommend any other brands from experience?

You can buy a 'front only' kit too. I used HEL lines, pretty pleased with them. Goodridge would be fine too.

I recommend that whichever ones you choose, get the stainless fittings rather than zinc.

Just visited the Goodridge site,
http://www.goodridge.co.uk/buy-motor...oses.php?mk=11

SV650SX-SK2 99-02
Front: SU0655S-3F @ ?65.99
Front Race: SU0655S-2F @ ?45.99
Rear: SU0655-1R @ ?23.99

What's the difference between front race and front, and why is it cheaper?

I think the front is a 3 piece kit, using the original splitter block, where as the race is a 2 hose kit, with 2 hoses going straight from the lever, just bought the race kit myself, but still to fit it.

A front race setup is the term used to describe having only two brake lines at the front. Each line runs directly from the front master cylinder all the way down to the caliper. A normal front brake setup has a single line that runs to a block near the front mudguard and then splits across to each cylinder. The normal setup is more expensive as it requires more lines.

Go for the race setup, its simpler neater and cheaper.

I see you're quite right guys, the race is a two piece whilst the other is a three. I'm guessing the race would not be so tidy but maybe more effective in braking?

The HEL lines are a little more expensive;
HEL Performance Brake Line Kit 2piece front, one piece rear
? 49.36 Front / ? 24.68 Rear

I think the race setup actually looks tidier. Goodridge or HEL are both as good as each other, also consider the option of the plastic coatings that can be colour coded or supplied clear. Much easier to clean that way.

Thats the price for Goodridges Zinc fixings, you'll be wanting Stainless Steel which HEL are as standard!

Goodridge SS

Race Front - ?60 (clear coat)
Rear - ?29.99 (clear coat)

?95.99 Delivered

HEL SS

Race Front - ?49.36 9 (clear coat)
Rear - ?24.68 (clear coat)

?87 Delivered

The race set up looks much neater than the OEM set up!!!
