Smile Lake District, Sunday 6th November.

Planning a new route up to the Lake District this Sunday. Anyone interested?

Google Maps

Start from Burger King at Skipton around 09:30, then up the A65 to Kirkby Lonsdale, onto Windermere, Ullswater, Keswick, Buttermere, Keswick, Ullswater, Windermere, Kikby Lonsdale and finally back to Burger King.

As I said above this is a new route so I'm not sure the best places to stop for fuel, food, etc. So if anyone familiar with the area can suggest good places on the route I'd be very grateful.

Ooh Honister Pass weather forecast at the minute says the sun will have his hat on, so i'm coming out to play if you'll have me

Could meet you at Devils Bridge for say 10?

Theres 2 petrol stations within a mile of each other in Keswick, you'll go past a BP on your left a bit before you turn left towards Derwent. Food I can't help much, i've had ice cream in Buttermere does that count!?

Yes, all welcome. Google Maps reckons, we'll be at Devils Bridge 10:15. Ice cream is always good, was it from a van or a cafe? The only place I've come up with so far is the Kirkstone Pass Inn, but we might get there too early for lunch. I'll get Googling and see what I can find.

Grange Cafe in Borrowdale looks a good candidate for a lunch stop. BP Derwent Service Station in Keswick for fuel (roughly halfway through the route - even an Aprillia could make that!)

That's a fab route Tony! I'm sure I've done it before.

It'll be next year before I make it to one of your ride outs again.

Enjoy!

Hi Melody, nice to hear from you again, shame you can't make it, we'll see you next year. I've also got an extended version of this route including Wasdale, but there's not enough daylight to do it at this time of year. Not ridden in the Lake District yet and really looking forward to it. I've even got the bike ready before going to work today!
