So the past couple of weeks heralded minimal progress, due to ill health and some issues with brake banjo bolts!!

Still awaiting the spraying of my seat, its a freebie so can't pressure too much.
In the meantime I had an idea of how to solve my "fairing for the first few outings" dilema, so here it is, using the GSXR 600 seat cowl that came with the fairings posted earlier. It looks ok from the front, but as it is sat on the original subframe it looks, err, quirky? from the side!

I present, the fugly duckling:

So anyway with the banjo bolts finally sorted out, SVGTI now has braided lines in place on the front, also has re-sprung, re-oiled and re-sprayed forks.
Binky sorted him out with some crash bobbins, ta very much.
Stubby levers from our Hong Kong friends and the rearset riser plates and all slapped on in the one evening, ah progress at last...

Getting closer to track... can't wait.

Thanks bud, some more tonight.
Putting some finishing touches to it and some more removal of un-needed bits.

I fitted an R6 throttle tube but not 100% confident that its right. There is not enough slack in the cables to give it free play at closed throttle. I took up all the adjustment in the cables near the bars but can't see any room to get more slack at the engine end????
I removed some plastic from both sides of the tube where the wires slot in, is there any more I need to mod to make this perfect??

After a couple of lunch times bending and chomping ally plate we got:
Toe guard, not quite as long as this angle makes it look.

Exhaust hanger, will punch some holes in it and spray black.

Removed the fan and horn from behind the radiator:

Removed the chicken wire grill from radiator:

SVGTI bled his new brake lines and tidied them up and re-fitted the mudguard. Awaiting delivery anytime soon of his subframe from RVRacing and then he can get on with fitting the fireblade seat we got made locally.

What is the advantage of a toe plate if you don't mind me asking? or is it a regulation thing?

Its more a safety thing, supposed to deflect your foot or hand away from the chain and sprocket in the unlikely event of a crash.
Yes I believe that it is mandatory thing for most race events.

More commonly referred to as a shark's fin, but yes exactly, it's there to prevent pinkies getting chopped/trapped should you fall from the bike.

For racing with ACU its a requirement.

First trackday for the SV is booked, March 2nd at Blyton Park. Should be an easier track to familiarise myself with the bike than Cadwell. Certainly more run off and plain flat being an old airfield!
Seat is ready to be collected so a quick bolt up here and there, check it fits good and then spray the seat brackets and bob is your nob.

Almost there!!
With a deadline set for March 2nd we attacked with gusto tonight, three hours solid after work.

My main focus being the rear end, finalised the seat and battery box fitment, sorted the tilt switch, re-wrapped the loom.

Also used a tool to get lube in the clutch cable as the stubby levers feel quite stiff. Naturally less leverage!!! Every little 'elps.

Slapped on the belly pan purely for vanity reasons and to stop me tripping over it in the house.

Anyway pictures:

Meanwhile, SVGTI has fitted his forward positioning battery box and rear subframe made by RVRacing.

He has some race fairings coming too then she'll be reet:
