Default Numberplate light bulb

My MOT is coming up next month and i noticed my numberplate ight blub has blown, does anyone know the part number offhand, is it available at the likes of Halfords or is it a bit more special. If anybody knows of the top of their head i'd be greatful to share the knowledge but don't bother searching endless sites for it as i should be lees of a lazy toad!

Cheers in advance!

I cant remember exactly what bulb it is (it's a capless bulb IIRC) but you will be able to get a replacement from Halfords

They are very common bulbs.

Undo the cover and take the bulb out, it doesn't work so doesn't need to be in there, then go to either Halfords or an Auto shop and show them the bulb and ask for a replacement.

New boy here, greetings to all. I'll do a proper intro elsewhere.
I have a 2008 Gladius, the number plate illumination bulb has gone and I cannot work out how to get to it.
I'm guessing it will involve removing a bit of the mudguard inner/lining, but I just can't find a way in.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Welcome.
Non Gladius owner here, but this on line manual indicates that you have to gain access from the underside. 9B-9...
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/97...age=545#manual

which, they say, requires removing the rear fender (good grief). 9B-7...
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/97...age=543#manual

and (picture of fender assy). 9D-3...

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/97...age=564#manual

It looks like the rear fender cover (item 4 on page 564) is hiding the license plate light screws.

Thank you, Seeker.
I too saw that manual, but couldn't believe that I would have to remove the rear fender and other bits as well to change a bl**dy light bulb! For the rear light there is an access plate, 1 screw and pop it out and there you go. This is madness!

OK, I have the info. Never thought of checking the owner's handbook, the little booklet that tells you where the front is etc, but it's there.
For those who may seek this info but who don't have the handbook the process is:

Remove seat
Remove side panels
Disconnect rear indicator wires
Remove number plate, and undo the 2 pan-head screws now visible
Remove the rear light access panel from the inner mudguard(1 screw and lever it out)
Undo the 4 bolts now visible (vertical, going up towards the seat)
Unbolt and remove the rear indicators

And you can now pull away the inner mudguard, which will give you access to the nuts holding the light housing on.

Regards

John

I changed mine for an LED version so I don't have to worry about it blowing. Did the Same with my Stop/Tail lights on my 99 and also my Parking light and a Xenon H4 Headlight bulb.

Good move.
Also, I might cut a couple of holes in the inner mudguard, which can then be covered by bungs/blanking caps. This should let me take the bungs/caps out and access the retaining nuts.

OK, the deed is done.
Bulb is a fairly ubiquitous 12 v 5 w bayonet, sold pretty well everywhere.
Took 2 hours to do; putting it back together took longer than taking it apart because I couldn't find one of the little inserts that I didn't know were there until I heard it drop and saw it roll across the garage floor and disappear into a pile of grot...…
And yes you really do have to remove the rear mudguard assembly then separate the 2 halves (inner and outer).
Didn't cut an access panel, decided it would look a bit bodgy, and couldn't get an LED, but having done it once it no longer holds any fears for me.
