So who will replace him?
Let's replace Boris the blow job with Dorries the anus eater. Should be amusing (for about 10 minutes).

Does this all remind anyone else of the Donald's behaviour after the USA presidential election results?
We await the storming of Buckingham Palace by Johnson's remaining supporters, horned helmets and baseball caps at the ready .................

And he's resigned, but wants to stay in [S]the bouncy castle[/S] No. 10 until a new PM is chosen in the autumn.

OK, so we're half way there.
He's agreed to step down as party leader but apparently wants to stay on as Prime Minister until the Tory party sort out a successor. I can't see how that's viable. I know it's constitutionally acceptable, but in reality?

If a PM quits on the basis of failure of support for policy (e.g. May/Brexit) then it can work, they can hold the government together on other stuff until they get replaced, but when the issue is that the party have decided (eventually, finally) they have no trust in the person, how can they continue as PM?

I would want to see a new caretaker stand-in PM, difficult as that may be, but to keep someone who no-one trusts cannot be defended IMO. The grief for the rest of us continues awhile ......

To be honest, most of the current bunch need booting out. They're a bunch of hypoctrites and opportunists.

As John said a few posts back,

True. While I believe Starmer is a "decent" person, he has no charisma whatsoever, and sadly that is what many folk base their voting decicions on. Competence and decency are almost irrelevant (as proven). Until the Labour party actually wake up to the fact, they have no hope. To go on record, I do not support strong left wing politics especially regarding nationalisation etc.

The huge problem facing us right here right now is that so many Tories have resigned their posts that there is no functioning government, and that cannot simply be rolled back. If you resign you resign, that's it, they are no longer ministers. All those posts need to have people appointed to them for the departments to work.
Johnson clearly can't (practically) be responsible for the appointments, though as PM it is almost certainly technically still his remit, so who will be able to do it acceptably? Until they are filled we are quite literally in limbo. This is an utter mess and the politicians as a body must take responsibility for it ........ but of course they won't. Just wait and see all the excuses everyone will be giving for supporting Johnson vociferously right up to a week ago, I doubt many will admit that he was seen as their meal ticket, they weren't about to be turkeys voting for Christmas. Happy New Year?
