Just because Google have re-defined what Beta means in regard to their software, and so people are used to using "Beta" programs (They defined that Gmail etc is "Beta" because it is still under development with new features being added, where other people would have called it Gmail 1.0 then 1.1 etc.) Beta software is expected to have bugs in it, to not work properly, to have security holes in it, it really meant for people who like to poke at things and try and break them, then send details of how they broke it etc back so that the release version doesnt suffer from those flaws.

Re: Internet Explorer 8 Beta
Traditionally there are 3 classes of Software apart from that which is sold.
Alpha = Breaks all the time - pretty much proof of concept. Beta = Should be fine, but you wouldn't bet your life or business on it. Release Candidate = we think we have found all the bugs and if none show up in the next week/month we will release this version. So to put that into SV terms... the Curvy was an Alpha, the K3 a Beta and the K4 was the release version

Re: Internet Explorer 8 Beta
Been using this for a while now. It's pretty good. The things I like are the Private browsing mode - good for sites of a questionable nature! Also I like the virus scan while you download files, hand for stuff that I download. No not porn.
