Getting back on topic ... the 2019 SV was announced in November 2018 and available early 2019 some time? I'm guessing that would be a good window for discounts, or possibly ex-demo bikes, which lines up with yokohama's comments. Assuming I don't REALLY like the 2020 colours or something like that.

You can finance second hand bikes. I bought my car from a private seller using a finance company. They just put the money in your account

If the bike is to be solely used for commuting, get a 300-400cc maxi-scooter.
Another commuter bike option is the CB500X, good fuel range and very comfy. Or an NC750S DCT |
