Re: Back brake pedal
Hi Billy,
Yes, I've just done it on my 2001. If you have broken your old one and are replacing it with the standard one again, it is just three screws and two springs. Undo the back of the pedal before you remove the plate as it's easier. The issue comes if you buy one of the folding ones from ebay that says it's for an SV650, it doesn't fit the curvy like it should. Firstly the pedal arm is cranked out unnecessarily along with a tiny little pedal part. Secondly, the arm that the springs attach to is in the wrong place so you get issues with the rear brake light being on all the time. I got one and sent it back after trying it. You can make a wire link to get the tension of the rear light switch spring right, but the unnecessary crank in the arm and tiny pedal would be a pita for me. Hope that helps. |

Re: Back brake pedal
3 screws, bliss!
I just tried to replace mine on a pointy. It took me nearly half an hour to remove a little cotter pin that Mr Suzuki cunningly hid in a hard-to-get-to place behind the pin connecting the pedal to the cylinder pushrod. Cut hands again. |

Re: Back brake pedal
Ah yes of course there are other little wrinkles before it is in your hand, but it is simple enough to get the thing off. After removing the three screws there is one split pin and two springs.
Don't forget to grease it before assembly to keep the salt and grit out. |

Re: Back brake pedal
Yeah, it's easy to cut yourself down there. I just got mine done with a few scratches.

Re: Back brake pedal
A squirt of carb or brake cleaner some light to see by and fine long nosed pliers and you'll be fine.
