what you lot know about trial bikes?
as the post title says 'what you lot know about trial bikes?'
I am after buying one for this winter, but dunno what to buy. They all look the same to me! i have asked people with trial bikes, but they all just say that theirs is the best, so they are basically no help! I have around £1500 to spend, what can i get? Cheers SPeeeeDY |

I have the Yamaha DT125X... this is the supermoto version of the DT125R. It's a great little bike, gets to 60 quickly and works it's way to 70 (80ish if you derestrict it). Parts are very easy to get and plastics are cheap to replace. The DTR is worth looking at IMO. Go to your local dealers and ask for a test ride. I'm selling mine though, as much as I like it, I want an SV!

I also can vouch for the DR350, awesome bikes (and suzuki's aswell) .
Great motor, wheelies arent just easy, they are a formality, iv had a few trials bikes now and its definately my favourite.. |

Not to sound like a numpty but i thought T-R-I-A-L bikes were GasGas Txt's, Beta Rev 2.3's, Sherco 290's etc etc. and that big 4-stroke thumpers such as the DR350, H*nda CRF450's were T-R-A-I-L bikes ?????
Or am i just being thick |

I was actuall refering to the dougie lampkin kinda bikes. But thanks for the replys about the trail bikes anyway.
I used to have a yamaha TTR250 for a bit of greenlaning, but got bored of that as i always wanted to go as fast as i could through the woods and lanes. I think motocross would have suited me more! But i just want a trial bike now as i have never had one and they just look fun. Cheers SPeeeeDY |

I think to start with it won't really matter what bike you have.
I did my first trial about a month ago and it is so hard to start with. (Makes you realise that Lampkin and co are actually superhuman) Best thing would probably go along to a few trials and see what performs well, perhaps have a chat to a few people as well. |
