Best way of supporting bike to check / grease rear linkage (that isn't an ABBA stand)?

A quick question while it crosses my mind: what's the best way of supporting an SV650 to service the rear suspension linkage?

I can't hang the bike from rafters in the garage and don't have access to an ABBA stand (and can't really justify buying one as I already have front & rear paddock stands).

Is it turning the footpegs upside down & axle stands? Or can a car jack be used anywhere under the engine / frame (with a block of wood to spread the load)?

this. once you have turned the pegs round put an axle stand under the opposite peg to the sidestand so its touching the bottom of the peg. go round the other side and put the axle stand as near to the peg on the sidestand side as you can then 'rock' the bike up onto the opposite stand then slide the sidestand side under the peg. if you try and use the paddock stand first it wont lift the bike up far enough as the suspension is in compression.

personally i would never go back to paddock stands after using an abba stand. i have the swingarm removal bobbins permanently connected to the bike as its much better than the fitting kit. yes they are expensive but worth every penny and so easy to use and secure.

abba stand + front lift + swingarm removal kit and you can strip the whole bike on the stand if you wanted.

Interesting. Hopefully I won't have to buy the bobbins for mine as I hope to not need to strip it that far.

Agree with Bibio, abba stands and the swingarm kit make maintenance so easy
