Ahh you're right, they're not circlips.
Thanks for the help, so to clarify though, we are talking about the short length of black tube which I used with the Carbtune right? |

With carbtune you use 10cm or so or tube, then the damper (the small bore bit of clear tube), then a long tube.
You use that 10cm or so of tube or an approximation of it (one bit of tube isn't too different from another, the length doesn't need to be spot on exact)

Fair enough. Must confess ive not done ballancing on the SV, done it on a couple of other bikes though. How boring is the SV?
