Default Limewire Trouble

Does anyone have the file sharing programme Limewire on thier computer???

In the bottom left hand corner there is a bar status similar to that of signal strength on your phone. Normally is starts on the lowest level, "Connecting to the network" and then loads up to the highest strength. Now it just stays on the lowest level which means i can't actual download any files. Is there something i can do about this to be able to download again???

No. Limewire is evil, Pure evil....in a nice and neat and innocent looking software package.

Anyway, with regards to your problem, have you checked your firewall settings?

When I did use it, most MP3 files I downloaded came attached with a trojan horse or some other sort of malicious software

I don't download anything now, I get all the music I want from my freinds

There is a new version of Limewire, perhaps upgrading will help. Also if you run a stron anti-virus softwae like Kapersky 7.0 it will alwasy pick up any Trojans or malware viruses.

Yeah, right

Complacency is a killer (of PCs) you know! Windoze is riddled with insecurities, loopholes and open doors for malignancy. Switching to Linux/Mac is the only way to guarantee piece of mind and that's not 100% secure.

I use Frostwire under PCLinuxOS and it rocks.

Isn't Limewire a form of filesharing? P2P - least that 's how I understood it...it's all sooooo confusing nowadays!! Anyhoo, according to recent news programmes, ISP's are now supposedly going to send 'warning' letters to those that continue to use this form of downloading (P2P apparently breaks UK copyright legislation).

Hope this helps.

It does, yes. It is only recently that they are cracking down on it. Something about slowing the internet connections of repeat offenders etc etc.

I simply take the files i download out of the "sharing folder" and then delete them afterwards. This way i don't think anyone can prove you illegally downloaded it.

Not all files are illegal though...

You'll probably find that you can't download properly as you aren't sharing enough files.

Deleting files from the shared folder/computer, doesn't actually delete anything, it just marks the data as ok to be written over.

It asks me if i would like to delete the item or move it to the recycling bin. I always tend to "recycle it" and that gets emptied every now and again. So surely the files aren't still on the computer after that...???
