Re: Who looks after their sv .
Some policies will ask for odometer readings, so they check if you claim. Also, mileage is recorded on MOT so that will tell you annual mileage. I had to bump mine up from 10K to 15K a year as I was doing lots more miles than I thought. Didn't make a massive difference to the policy premium.

Re: Who looks after their sv .
I learnt on an almost new Honda CG125 through the winter just gone. It took some serious cleaning before I sold it, I pretty much had to dismantled it to get it clean enough for selling. I won't be making that mistake again.
Only got my SV on saturday just gone, however on of the first we things the list to do are replace most fixings with either stainless steel or ally depending on what and where they are. During the process, it bike will have a real thorough clean, and ACF-50 will be applied where needed. 9k on it so far, and runs as it should. Will be giving it a full service next weekend. I expect to get at least 100k out of it, but don't see why double that wouldn't be possible if looked after well. The only reason it might not get there, is at around 15k a year, I'll be looking for a change before I put that many miles on it! |

Re: Who looks after their sv .
RTFM. Do that and it will last until it goes bang. When it goes bang depends entirely on how you use it.
I reckon I use my engine moderately hard. So if it reaches 60k I will treat it to an overhaul, as well as some other bits and bobs. Maybe. Until then, normal servicing. And I strip and grease the chassis every year. I don't clean it.

Had a 2000 road one with 60,000 miles and she never gave out.why did i sell it? Had a race one which I changed the oil every day it was on the track. Now i have another one, a pointy which i must put up some pics soon. Had trouble starting when i got it.... mismatched plugs from previous owner |

I think it's "RandyO" who has 150k+ miles on his. I believe he treats his fairly steadily rather than the abuse some others get though!
