Default Southern 100 11th - 14th July 2011

I am looking at going to the Southern 100 races next year in the Isle Of Man & wondered if anybody would be interested.
I have checked with The Steam Packet Company & the ferry from Liverpool, return, is £108 for bike & rider, or £132 for bike, rider & pillion.
Luckypants told me of a campsite in Peel that I used this year, it cost £7 a night. I know it's over the other side of the island, but it's only 13 miles from Castletown where the races are held.

I have been a couple of times to the Southern 100,s but I am fortunate in having a friend who lives on the front at Castletown. Its a bit far ahead for me to say but
it is a possibility.
I prefer this to the actual TT as you can mooch about during the day and watch the racing in the evenings as the roads are open till the late afternoon.

Thats what made me think of going. There is too much hustle & bustle at the TT for me, so nice & quiet & good racing is my motive

I stayed at that campsite in September, nice place, the pool coffee shop is useful as it opens at 7am for a morning brew. Never done the the southern 100; although I did the circuit a few times this year, but did the TT many times in the 90's, but I think after sampling the island "out of session" as I did this time I may well do that again, it's like you have the whole island to yourself for playing, on an "anytime" ticket it was £73 return, Tuesday to the following Wednesday.

Cheers Mark.

Yes, I went out of season this year, it felt like everyday was a Sunday lol. I rode the TT course twice in 1 day, was great just to pull over, take 5 mins & set off whenever you liked. I didn't try the pool cafe, but, maybe next year

I'm thinking of doing it the week before TT fortnight (work and mate depending),
but may reconsider for the Southern if it falls through.
