Am moving up to the West Midlands..!
Ello all, as mentioned on a previous thread, I was considering moving up to the West Midlands following a job offer.
Well, have decided to accept it... ...so, hoping I'll get the chance to meet some of you lot. Not sure where I'll be living yet, or where to look, but will update shortly (hopefully!). Til then, ride safe! |

Job is in Oldbury.
Really not sure where to live, where should I avoid?! Generally looking at flat-sharing initially so I get to know people and the area... |

Hi pal. How far would you be willing to travel each dayto work? Then can give you an idea of areas.

Ideally, initially, only a 15 mile commute...
Maybe 20 miles. Been considering Edgbaston. |

Re: Am moving up to the West Midlands..!
If you want a really nice area, try Harbourne. It has a good amount of pubs and is a nice upmarket kind of area. Its also not too far from Oldbury - 4-5 miles.
Like most places, there are some nice parts in amongst some not so nice areas. Edgbaston being one of them.......some streets etc are very nice but some need to be avoided. We used to live in Old Hill / Halesowen area - again some not nice areas, but some nice streets / quiet estates also. I would suggest if you want a more social life etc then give Harbourne or Jewellery Quarter a look. Quinton is ok in parts, but probably a much quieter area. The only advice I can recommend, is do some searching online etc and then once you have found some places some links over and can advise you if you wish.

Re: Am moving up to the West Midlands..!
That part of Dudley / Tipton is nice in places. It looks like that is one of the newer estates. So long as it is not in Tipton centre, Dudley Centre or south of the A4123 then should be fine. (if you look on google maps where Tividale is, it runs along the A4123....anywhere south of that until Rowley is not a nice area).
In terms of local amenities etc - there is a huge park with cinema, restaurants etc near there. Large Tescos Extra just down the road. However, the nightlife round Dudley isn't really the best. But easy to get to Wolverhampton or Brum. One big bonus is how close you are to Oldbury.....so ideal for work.
