Default Car track day

Considering taking the car on track for a bit of a change.

Has anyone done one?

How do the differ from bike days?

As far as I'm aware they are more expensive but there are far fewer cars on track than bikes.
Overtaking is more regulated, in that you can only over take on the left and if you are a slower car you have to keep right to give the faster guys space to pass. Don't know if there are any rules about overtaking on corners though.

There are some at Rockingham which aren't too bad. £99 for 6 30 min sessions, that's cheaper than most bike days. It looks like the more expensive ones are open pit lane.

Just wondering what the rules are, what type of clothing/helmet you need, do you have to do anything special to the car that sort of stuff.

There is a £30 taster session on soon so I may just rock up to that and check it out.

Suppose the only downside of a car day is if you bin it, it's a lot more expensive, plus I wont be able to get to work.

I did one in the MX5 with circuit days. Had to wear a helmet (closed face if an open car) and long sleeves I think. Overtaking by consent on the straights only (and was on the LHS IIRC).

Quite good fun, but nowhere near as fun as a bike on track. The only mod I did with the MX5 was fit more tack orientated brake pads.

Looking at this too but can't find any Iinfo on classic only or similar track days. Although I guess it's like an r1 being in novices.?

What car do you have Andy? The owners clubs may organise days.
