First time I have seen that Yamaha ! What I actually think, as I said , is the problem is the current trend for a skimpy minimalist rear end on bikes. I don't like the skimpy tail ends ,I would prefer a more substantial tail on the bike ,but removing a skimpy tail with an even more minimalist rear end (tail tidy ) isn't the answer (in my opinion).
I don't like the skimpy front mudguard on the current SV650A but I wouldn't remove it altogether to improve it!
Maybe they could have a 'tail enhancer' where these skimpy tails were replaced with a more substantial piece of bodywork that would act as a better mudguard.

The Yzf125 does look ridiculous, I remember thinking that when they came out. They have the equivalent bulky 'shovel'...on the end of a skimpy (tail tidy style) stick. It the worst of both worlds.

Re. a phat azz , as with most things, it's dependent on the full picture.

Got to hand it to you Svenrico, you are pretty skilled at dodging the question - have you ever thought of a career in politics?

Don't want to bore everyone else by attempting a Paxmanesque level of interrogation, so suppose i'll just have to stay curious.......

Just so we have a better idea what we are talking about here

YZFR125 with a tail tidy (which according to Svenrico spoils the look of any bike) :

and YZFR125 without a tail tidy:

Have to say, I remain to be convinced by Svenrico's "tail tidies spoil the look of any bike" argument which I have to assume he is sticking to, in the absence of much evidence to the contrary so far.

The tail tidy doesn't look any better - I don't like the look of either of them.
Will that do ?
ps I knew you were up for a good argument !

They weren't afraid to put some bodywork at the tail end of that one !

For a sporty 125 I think it looks pretty much 'on the money' however... the oem plate mount looks like it was the result of a drunken game of 'pin the tail on the donkey', the tail tidy (although not perfect) is clearly a vast improvement over the oem unit. Imo.

Tail tidies are obviously a matter of taste and I am clearly in a minority with my opinion on removing the original rear ends from bikes and replacing with a tail tidy. Perhaps we could start a thread on bike designs from the past showing tail ends of bikes that look ok without any modification. Who knows, manufacturers might be influenced to provide bikes how people want them in the first place !

One of the things I liked about my VFR was the amount of protection the back end gave.

I had a spin out today and the roads were bone dry apart from a couple of short sections (each less than 40 or 50 feet across) where there was run-off / puddles flowing across the road from the recent rain. Yet when I stopped for a coffee, my bike was grubbier than nearly all of the 50+ bikes at the caff.
