just a wonder...

...did you thrash the tits off the bandit? I found it to be quite the fun engine above 8500 rpm...

Yeah I did, and was really surpised at the low-end grunt it has in 6th gear. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent bit of kit and making the choice between the two wasn't easy, but I preferred the riding position on the Glad, the performance of the twin, and the gearbox and clutch on it.

One criticism of the Bandit was it wasn't very smooth at lower speeds, and a lot of my riding will be to work and back, so that kinda factored in.

I'd have been happy with either, but happier with the Gladius. Saying that, I'd recommend the Bandit too as a first 'big bike'.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, was very much appreciated, especially for a newbie to the forums. The Gladius was just so much fun to ride, could throw it about quite a bit, and whilst the styling isn't for everyone I don't mind it.

I wanted a fun bike which I could develop my riding on and which is reasonably comfy, and this one fits the bill. Have added a tail tidy, a raised seat, and a front fender extender to it too.

So anyway, i'm pleased
A good wise choice IMO....; You just can't beat a good Vtwin engine..

Nicest gladius I've seen that, I actually quite like it. Good decision to ditch those horrible plastic frame covers. Just need to lose the plastic rad cover, and make up a nice aluminium exhaust hanger so you can lose those Honda-style pillion peg mounts. The bars and the Yoshi can look ace, nice one.

Street triple is completely another world of bike compared to the bandit, SV, gladys, ER6!!
Very much faster. Very much more like a sportsbike. Far more likely to get you into trouble.

I'm not keen on the wet bandits, not as good as the oil cooled motors, heavy. I'd also not have an ER6 if paid a lot of money because the cylinders are both pointing in the same direction/there's not enough of them (pick your poison, worst of both worlds!)
