Default Curvy Carb heater circuit

Anyone know if I can just unplug the heater circuit off the loom or does the diode do something other than helping the heater circuit?

Didn't even know the heater circuit had a diode!

I've left them unplugged, and also built custom looms that didn't have them, never made any difference. Didn't stop carb ice when they worked either!
