Default Compatibility of Exhausts

Do bike companies assemble cans especially so that they are tailored to each individual bike? Road Legal ones arent supposed to create any gains in power so does this mean that exhausts off other bikes will fit the SV k3?

Depends whether it's a "reactive" design or "absorbtive".

Reactive, like the stock silencer, uses multiple pass tubes, baffle plates and passages to get exhaust pulses to inter-react to smooth out the noise. These are by definition sensitive to mass flow, size of pulse and frequency so are specific to a particular engine configuration and speed range (e.g. 650 twin, 750 four cylinder etc), which means in effect a specific bike. These can be tuned for effect at certain frequencies for noise tests etc. They also don't tend to degrade.

Absorbtive use basically perforated pipe which is wrapped in wadding inside a container, and work by allowing the pulse energy to dissipate into the packing. The stock SV collector pipe has some of this effect built in with a perforated liner. These tend to be less engine specific, but aimed rather more at a notional power rating (determines the bore size=gas speed, and length), although fewer big cylinders tend to need greater absorbtion volume.
