Default Roads Advice

Guys,

I've got a day to 'waste' on the 13th May, and I'm looking for some great roads to ride in the Hampshire / West Sussex part of the world.

I'll be starting and finishing the day in the Portsmouth/Gosport area.

If you can get me some fine pieces of tarmac to ride I'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Dean

like all things great/best roads are subjective, how far/ how much time do you have, what type of roads are you looking for?

Broad strokes, out through Havant to Rowland's castle, up to Compton, then on to South Harting, Elsted, up to the A272, right through Midhurst to Petworth, take the London rd (283 I think?), then the first road on the right (signed to Gunters Bridge / Balls cross), follow that to Skiff Ln on the left, turn down there, joint the B2133 turning left towards Loxwood, follow on to a sort of elongated roundabout thing (you'll know it when you see it), first turning off is the Dunsfold rd (goes passed the airfield where they make top gear), come out at Dunsfold and follow signs for Chiddingfold, you can either follow the A283 (turning Left) back to Petworth or having turned left take the B2131 (turning right) to Haslemere and on to the A3 for a quick blat back down to Portsmouth.

Cheers Mark.

You're in the right area for good roads there. That gap north of Portsmouth round petersfield area is where we ride most of the time.

Mark,

I know you said its been a while since you've been up here but these ight give you an idea of my favourite types of roads.

I'll basically ride anything from twisty and slow like the Dukes Pass (A821) and Kinlochleven Loop (B863) through to blindingly quick like the Dalveen Pass (A701).

Now I know the chances of finding anything down south that's a good is a little slim, but I really would like a great day to finish off my holiday...

But anything with lots of corners and fairly smooth tarmac will keep me happy.
