Aye

Great pictures.

Long time since I've ridden in Scotland, but I had weather like that in the 1980's

We were very fortunate with the weather. I got back from a family hol in a very warm central France the day before leaving for Scotland and I thought I would be freezing my nuts off there, but the weather was decidedly continental!

Round the corner on to the next peninsula and the road to Diabaig.

The waterfront and jetty at Diabaig.

looks like you had a great time, Scotland is superb when the weather plays ball.

this is why i like to do the low road as the scenery is just stunning. yes the pass of the cattle is ok but not a patch on the low road. funny both roads are better views going out from Applecross.

if you had more time i could have given you a route that has stunning vistas but much further up the coast . next time

I've been looking at the map Lance and thinking I could happily spend a few days just riding lots of those little coast roads. As much as anything it was the amount of traffic that took the shine off the pass for me. The guys at Hartfield House (the youth hostel at Applecross) were saying that the number of people coming through has gone bonkers since the NC500 became a thing.

Dunno when Col but I definitely want to go back up there and do it all and more again. I'll give you a shout next time if you want to join me for the excursion!

Cannot argue with that, one of my favourite places / roads anywhere.

Geo, I have a Gelert 2 man tent although for the sake of economy Mick and I both piled into his 3 man Gelert tent which had a big enough porch for all our kit and takes half the time to put up. Oxford Sports Lifetime tankbag and panniers to carry everything. Set of nested Coleman s/s billycans and my trusty old Coleman Peak white fuel stove.

We piled on the miles Mike. First day was the longest with the ride from Wales to Fort William being just under 500 miles. Hardest day was the 3rd coming all the way back from Applecross via Dialbaig to just north of Carlisle. We were getting a bit tired and achey by then.
The curvy certainly proved itself to be a good touring bike though.

500 miles would break me but i dont do motorways as i detest them with a passion. think the furthest i have been in one day up here is a round trip of 460odd miles all A/B roads and i never got home till midnight but it turned out to be one of the best runs i have ever had.

The killer on day three was coming over the Erskine bridge and across Glasgow. Traffic all the way from the end of Loch Lomond till we finally hit the M74 again. Next time I'd come back to Oban and then Dunoon for the ferry, then across country towards Dumfries.
