Reported petrol smell -K4

Hi chaps

Been out on a couple of jollys with my mate and his flazer, and he has reported a very strong smell of petrol whilst riding.

He thinks it is mostly on overrun.

Is this normal, as I have had my ECU reprogrammed and mapped for filter and exhaust.

I think its only really on the overrun to be fair to you mate.

TBH smelling of petrol on the overun can be totally normal. Being out on track i notice this especially if people are running Octane boost or that new BP high octane fuel. You could just have an oversensitive nose - like i can smell someone smoking a cigar in a car a mile away

The main thing is does the bike feel ok?..How old is the air filter?..would be worth just wipping the tank up and having a look because if thats all gummed up it can cause it to run on the richer side.

If you want to be double sure a simple dyno/fueling run would eliminate rich running. If its been remapped they cant drop a map - only other things can affect the fueling such as dirty filter etc etc.

Filter is rand new, 6 months old (6k miles) Bike has only done nr 9k miles total.

My fuel eco isnt massively bad, i'll get 120 something until the light comes on (almost like clockwork) k4 so i'll get a solid fuel light until its empty 50 miles later.

I think i'll monitor the situation, see if i get any more 'compliants'
