Scotland
Just got back
980 miles in 3 days, excellent. Day 1 Newcastle - loch lomond 200 miles - 4 Hours Really nice weather all the way comfortable on the bike. Camped at a place called beinglas farm. The food was great and the booze a little too good as I was rough the next morning. Day 2 Loch Lomond - Ullapool 190 miles - 5 hours Rained early on in the day but that didnt really spoil the roads. Amazing scenery along loch ness, ben nevis and then the road along to ullapool. Booked into a nice hotel as we were soaked and had some of the best seafood ever for tea. Day 3 Ullapool - john o groats 170 miles - 4hours The sun was out all morning and the roads were perfect. A little scary in places as it was mainly single track but the views were stunning. After dinner we decided to head home so John o groats - newcastle 400 miles - 8 hours Weather was pretty bad all the way home it rained, the A9 in scotland is very hard work but the strom was the right tool for the job. Overall we were both impressed that a fully laden 2 up motorcycle could be so much fun. I got flashed a lot when it got dark though as i assume the lights with nightbreakers in 2 up were a little much for other road users (sorry). The handling was very impressive and the only thing I can fault is the soft suspension and poor brakes (easy fixed). I also nearly ran out of fuel and made it to the garage with under 1 litre to spare (phew). So even though it rained I had a great time, try scotland, its great!!!! |

Re: Scotland
You would have ridden past my parents house ish,
There is a lovely place called golspie where you can walk up to a statue and see the highlands - its amazing. We go there mountain biking although long drive from kent these days wish I was back in scotland everyday! |

Re: Scotland
It's an amazing place, would be perfect if the weather didn't drop so severely.

Re: Scotland
Sounds like the big strom cantered it.
If the weather was even decent in Scotland , nobody would ever leave and it would be full! |

Re: Scotland
Aye the bike was amazing. I never got uncomfortable really and no one passed me
Except one local audi turbo on his way to a funeral. I followed him (along single track roads with passing places) and the guy was posessed. |
