just lost my biking virginity
Dunno if it's the done thing on this forum but here's my intro! Just passed my test 3 weeks ago via DAS, bought an SV650S k9 which is being delivered this week.
I don't know anyone that has a motorbike or is into biking so this forum helped me a lot. I am totally clueless about bikes in pretty much every way! I don't even have a helmet yet but I've decided on a Shoei Raid II, going back to HG to pick one up tomorrow. I was going to start with cheapy safety stuff but after reading some threads on crashes, and the page on forum members who have died riding, it hit home a bit and I have decided to invest in half decent gear, or at least not no-names. Live in East Kilbride but originally from Fort William. Planning on taking the bike up to Aberdeen every fortnight when the new footie season starts as that shower of sh**e is my team. Can't wait to get the bike and get on the road, I am excited like a little kid. Thanks for listening! Scott. |

Re: just lost my biking virginity
Great stuff buddy. Nothing puts a bigger smile on your face than a new bike
So you have a Shoei head, nice helmet the Raid II. Just make sure the shop fits you properly before buying. Have a look on the forums for regular runs now the weathers picking up. There's a run on Sat starting from Moffat. Few Glesga punters leaving from Hamilton if your interested linky Have fun on your new bike and hope to see you soon on some rideouts

Re: just lost my biking virginity
Thanks for the welcome and advice.
I'd love to go on a run but I'll wait until I get a set of kit first! I am rushing to get all my stuff in time for the great weather that we get every summer |

Re: just lost my biking virginity
Welcome to the gang sc00by.
Best piece of advice I was given: Ride for yourself. Dont go trying to keep up with the fast guys at the front *cough* grant *cough* :P make your own decisions, and stay shiny side up, the Organs are a lovely bunch, and have come to my rescue on a few occasions! Hopefully see you on a ride out soon. Ride safe! |

Re: just lost my biking virginity
The bike came today and I'm just back from the first ride. I was pretty nervous but once I got out there loved it! No scary moments it was great.
Did end up getting the Shoei Raid II helmet from HG which I'm also happy with. Both HG and Cupars have been great through the buying process, very helpful and friendly, can't fault a thing. Some pics from my phone. Fred will recognise this place! |

Re: just lost my biking virginity
Nice bike buddy, enjoy
Remove the idiot stickers though. Take her easy for the first 500 or so miles 5.5k revs i think. Then the critical first service at 600 miles which should only cost about 50 bars. Labours free
