Re: The Single malt appreciation thread.
Congratulations to Mr John Anderson, whoever the hell he is, on winning the whisky raffle. £935 raised for that and £6,135 in total for the Paul O'Gorman Leukemia Research Centre.
Thanks to everybody who contributed. Maybe next time... |

Re: The Single malt appreciation thread.
My local pub has organised a whisky tasting evening this Saturday (13th). We are booked in and I'll report back if anything interesting is presented.

Re: The Single malt appreciation thread.
Well I'm about to start enjoying four 15 y/o malts; Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore, and Caol Ila. To save time the helpful chaps at Diageo have blended them together to make Johnnie Walker Green Label. A duty free gift from an old friend.
Mods please delete if this delicious beverage is in the wrong thread. |

I thought this forum had a swear filter? It's not working.

Not sure I really rate the 10 y/o Aberlour that appeared at last night's barbecue, but I do seem to have drunk rather a lot of it during the decision making process.
Cheers! |

Re: The Single malt appreciation thread.
I've had a chest and throat infection for two weeks now, had 500mg Amoxycillin tablets from the doctor, finished the course they achieved NOTHING! Yesterday afternoon I was coughing my guts up, horrible yellow muck coming up out of my chest, when I coughed hard enough to shift it. Last night I sat down with a box set on TV, and half a bottle of Highland Park 12yo, and over the space of 4 hours demolished it. The coughing stopped, I had a peaceful nights sleep, and today although the infection isn't gone, it's many times better than it has been for the past two weeks. So, I've just been and bought a 15yo Glenfiddich (down to £34 in Tesco) because I dont want to demolish my really nice stuff just for medicinal purposes, and tonight I'm going to demolish half of that. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll be infection free.
So, there you have it, stuff medicines and anti biotics, and just drink whisky. (Though it does make me question, if it can kill bacteria like that what's it doing to the rest of the body!!) |
