Hmm, so he wasn't going more than 75mph, but he's learnt his lesson and accepts a £1000 fine and 42 day ban ......knob If he really hadn't been doing the speed then he would have been outraged at being fined and banned. Mind you, I don't really expect any more from a fisticuffs player |

Re: Amir Khan banned from driving
I don't really care.
We've all comitted the offence of speeding, we'd all lie about it if we were to run the risk of losing our licences. Who are we to get sanctimonious about one guy's minor victory, and if he was doing 140mph it is a victory. Maybe it's because he's a boxer, young, obviously wealthy etc that turns some people against him in circumstances like this. Would you feel the same if he was mid 40s R1 owner, a bricklayer and just about keeping a roof over his head? |

Re: Amir Khan banned from driving
Boxer Amir Khan has been fined £1,000 and banned from driving for 42 days after Rochdale Magistrates' Court heard evidence he was driving at speeds of up to 140mph.
A police officer told the court that his speedometer was "off the clock" at 155mph as he pursued Khan on the M62 on New Year's Eve, 2006. Khan, the Commonwealth lightweight title holder, who lives in Bolton, denied the charge, but was found guilty by the Rochdale magistrates. In October, 21-year-old Khan was banned for six months after injuring a man when he sped through a red light. District Judge Pamela Baldwin said there was insufficient evidence to prove Khan was driving at more than 100mph, but that she was satisfied it was in excess of 70mph. I think he's a total arrogant to$$er and cant wait for someone to end his career in the ring by knocking his block off. |

Re: Amir Khan banned from driving
Wanting to see a sportsman's career ended by someone knocking his block off is not the kind of thing I expect a nice person to say....and all just because the guy appears to you to be an arrogant to$$er, or are there other reasons?

Re: Amir Khan banned from driving
Well he's a boxer so wanting someone to knock his block off (knock him out) is not unreasonable
He hurt someone last year by going through a red light, showed no remorse and then exceeds the speed limit again and gets a slap on the wrist. Umm, I wonder why I don't like him? Last edited by Defender; 07-01-08 at 06:06 PM. |

Re: Amir Khan banned from driving
I don't see any reference to him not showing any remorse for causing someone to break a leg

Re: Amir Khan banned from driving
So...
If they were satisfied he was exceeding 70, but with unsufficient evidence to prove he was above 100, then why the ban? Or is this just because he got points for the red light running before?
