I have speed tested many bikes in the past and I can confirm the SV's top speed is closer to Suzuki's estimate of 123mph than any other claim, the SV wil also not push past 130 (even with different gearing) without heavily engine tuning!!!

Suzuki speedos are famous for over reading, the SV's is legendary!!!

All speedos do, regardless of manufacturer.

I've seen 135 on the clock with a couple of thousand rpm to spare and it was still pulling. I'd love to take it through a proper speedtrap on a runway to see what that actually equates to.

I did 125 on mine, my boyfriend had a go but he couldnt get that out of it. Hes taller than me therefore heavier and less aerodynamic so I guess it all makes a difference.

Pointy S models will rev out in top gear with an open can. That's about 145mph indicated. Either way, it goes quicker than the brakes and suspension can handle on public roads!

135mph on the clocks....curvey, naked (the bike, not me!)...still felt like she had a bit more pull but I chickened out...(plus I'm 9stone)

Yes, but Suzuki's are worse!

What is the point of this thread, everybody going on about what the reading of the clocks said and we all know the speedo lies!

Fact: The SV650 will not go past 130mph, proven and tested whether you want to admit it or not! It will need more cc's than that to push it past 130mph, and that is only a little way past!

Yet again another pointless 'my bike is faster than yours' thread which has now genuine proof of top speed....

I can second that, 140 on the sv felt quick but I wasnt going massively quicker than traffic around me nor catching traffic up that quick.....140 on the cbr feels rediculous
