Idle Banter For non SV and non bike related chat (and the odd bit of humour - but if any post isn't suitable it'll get deleted real quick).
There's also a "U" rating so please respect this. Newbies can also say "hello" here too.

Default Hello

Been lurking for a few weeks, so have finally decided to say Hi - maybe it's my advancing years but it took quite a while to work out where to post an intro.

(some forums make it really simple by having a dedicated newbies section )

Started on a GP100 in 1986 and Bike number 27 is a 2018 SV650 purchased in March this year. Having tried a lot of different stuff over the years I'm confident the SV does everything I want so expect to be keeping it a long long time.

Hi there from another ex sv owner.

27 bikes in 33 years... Do you crash a lot, or run a small bike museum?

Crashed a few times in the eighties (which was more or less obligatory as an 18 year old 350LC pilot)

Didn't really consider it a small bike museum at the time, but here's the largely euro twin themed one I ran in the midlands about 15 years ago (in truth the R1100GS at the back was much more of a part time exhibit as it actually doubled as regular transport)

My current museum has much more of a KTM singles theme (2001 640 Duke 2 and 2015 390 Duke)

With the regular transport role now filled by my SV.......

Haven't ridden the green 'un in ten years, it's probably a bit too hardcore for me now - think I might have to sell it.

The little 390 was an absolute riot (think 50hp mountain bike) right up untill it blew it's head gasket at a ridiculously pathetic 6000 miles

I really must get around to fixing it

Occurred to me riding the SV to work last week that if SVs had been around in the late eighties my bike list would probably have been a bit shorter. Would definitely still be some KTMs on there though.
