Default Man cave

I'm building one...a new shed that is.

Looking at treated battening and shiplap. Gonna be around 8ft x 8ft, standard design, door in front gable, windows in one of the sides, standard roof (not pent).

I have someone supplying armoured cable to run the power and have someone else supplying flourescent lighting. Thinking about some Kingspan to insulate the sides and have some foam interlocking mats to make the floor nice and soft and warm when I'm working on the bike/drinking sherry and watching Sat TV lol.

Anyone got any plans I can plagerise?

Also any other tips? (I'll build a work bench using stolen ideas from other threads )

Damp proof membrane on the walls and an air gap under the floor to let it dry.

I'll be building a shed soon, the one I got a few years ago leaks. I've had to wrap it in a tarp to try and stop water getting in.

Give me a shout if you want a hand, I have my own drill and hammer!

I love my dizz cave. 14x14ft. A nice man lovingly built it.

Only tip I can say is damp proof the floor, and do the roof felt right. :/

Edit....see if this works

Dont bury the eleccy cable, its best where you can see it or on a catenary wire.
Make sure its RCD protected in some form before it leaves the house.
Building regs might even require you to isolate with commando sockets on the outer wall, but its your call how far you want to go.

Will have a separate RCD isolation/fusebox at the exit point just inside the house.

Ha! Good call, however it needs to fit in between 2 x existing sheds and there's no point taking them down, even though it would give me more room overall.

loose the windows if you're going to be leaving any kit in there!
If you're working in it you'll have the light on anyway, windows just complicate things.

I've two windows in mine. They are useful to let air circulate in summer, when its like an oven in there. Just don't leave things in view!

If its sandwiched between two other sheds, who's going to squeeze in them?

There will still be light getting through them during the day. The shed backs onto an industrial unit (30ft high brick wall) and is not accessible from the rear. It's at the end of a 120ft garden and the side gate is locked, we live on a busy main road so there's very little chance of anyone having a nosey. Plus we have a copper next door who's recently taken to parking his squad car on the driveway...
