And don't forget all the begging charity ads on the TV at the moment. Adopt a killer whale or a polar bear? Really? Where would I keep it?

I had the guys gathering for local charity knocking on my door last night, when I said I'm not interested I was told "it's okay, were not here to sell you anything, we are collecting for charity", after saying "yep, I'm not interested...." I was looked at like it was my civic duty to give....get effed...bah humbug...whatever...I don't care when I know those who are in charge have a better life than me...

It is well known by charities that women are a softer touch than blokes (I will buy many poppies every year or just put money in Legion boxes, support RSPB and National Trust and well as CPRE (campaign to protect rural England)). What I will not do is give money to charities doing work overseas - charity begins at home.

Charities today are slick business organisations who pay their directors loads of money and share information about who is a soft touch.

I've subscribed to charities I've cared about in the past. Then they phone you up to ask you to increase your subscription and that really pees me off. They actually pay people to guilt trip you down the phone, and the only reason they have your number is because you already donate.

I usually ask them to cancel my existing subscription and they disappear rapidly.

6.5 HR drive to Liverpool (266miles)on Wednesday, for a 3.5hr meeting, followed by a 6.5hr drive back yesterday, avoiding the M6 so 340 miles this time.

What did I learn at this meeting? Get the train next time.
