It's not plugged. That how it looked after a track day on Saturday. The whole tyre is just ragged.

Just been onto Michelin and they are sending the replacement tyre to my local dealer on Wednesday. Wish they were recalling the rear as well !!!!!!

Mind you, it's looks a lot better after the 120 miles home than it did at Mallory

Or a less ego-inflated answer is :-

The things that look like ‘plugs’ are just ‘marbles*’ picked up, probably when leaving the race track or when going wide.

*Marbles are a name given to little balls of rubber. If you imagine all the little bits of rubber that are thrown off the tyres as they are chewed up, they collect at the lesser swept parts of the track (offline and on the entrance to pitlane etc). When the bike goes on these parts of the track the ‘marbles’ get picked up by the hot rubber tyre. They are harmless and can simply be ‘picked off’ if you wanted!!

Anyhoo, its all quite normal, not like Ratty was running on a many-repair tyre!!!

Oh I went wide often enough . Didn't manage to pull it up for Edwina's three times and took a couple of very 'interesting' lines at the hairpin !!

You don't even need to have had any 'incidents' ... It's very common to simply pick marbles up on a 'cooldown' lap as one tends to go off the normal racing line, or like I said on pitlane entry. To be honest I am surprised the LHS of the tyre is that worn as Mallory AND Snett are both predominately RHS tracks ... I suppose Mallory does have Edwina’s now though .... (not ridden it since that was put in)
