2010 can go and get stuffed now. It's not been great and it's just got worse. We have 2 cats and the ginger one just hasn't been acting right, drinking lots of water and not eating much. Normally he's the one to scoff everything in site and still be hungry. He was regularly fleaed and wormed so it was confusing as to what was up with him.

Since we have alot of countryside around us he often goes out and we don't see him for a day or two which is normal. Today was different, one of our neighbours told my brother that our cat was laying under a bush. I walked in from work to see Garfield on a towel just laying there.

I went up to him and he seemed so lifeless. His eyes were barely open, he couldn't move and he could barely keep his head up off the floor. I was stroking him and fussing him but there was nothing there. It was almost as if the lights were on but no one was there.

My dad got a washing basket to put him so he could take him to the vets. I lifted him up and instead of gripping onto my arm he just hung there. At that point I'd already made up my mind he was gone but hoped that he wasn't.

Within an hour my dad was back minus a cat. Apparently suspected liver or kidney failure so there was nothing better then to have him put down unfortunately. I'm not actually that upset about it because I pretty much said my goodbyes. It's a whole lot better then him being run over or something. It's going to be so odd not having him around me all the time.

Oh Scott, thats so sad. Losing a family pet leaves a large gaping hole. He looked absolutely lovely and im sure you'll always remember him fondly. At least you found him, got him to the vets and gave him a peaceful end. Thinking of you, have a

You're right, 2010 is not going well..... at least it can only get better!

Scott, I know exactly how you feel

as soon as you said "drinking a lot" my heart sank for you.
I had the same thing with one of my old cats.
I spent about £500 having scans ect but in the end I had to let him go.

I'm really sorry for you mate.

Dude, im sorry for ya.
I have two cats and i know how i'd feel.
My mother in laws cat looked the spitting image of yours and he was put to sleep last year, aged 16 i think.
Henry went a bit slower, was on steriods for ages and was like a new cat, but it gets us all eventually
They will always be in our thoughts so only gone in body not mind.

Phil
