Curvy Carb Question
Been playing with the carbs as I've been struggling to get the old girl to run nicely at tick over, she sounds a treat above 2000, but terrible below.
I was setting up my carb gauge, struck her up and noticed one of the levels wasnt registering, but she was ticking over really well. I hadnt connected the pipe to the front carb nipple, Built her back up and left the rubber cap off the carb nipple and she sounds great all the way through the rev range, but I'm not competent enough to know why? Can anyone shed any light please? |

Re: Curvy Carb Question
Leaving the cap off will lean the mixture slightly especially when the throttle is closed, first thing I would check is for is a stuck choke plunger on that carb.

Re: Curvy Carb Question
Checked and all okay, just doubled checked everything, tick overs fine no nipple but anything above is rough. With nipple tick overs rough and higher revs fine?

Re: Curvy Carb Question
Another vote for choke plungers.Did you get both plungers out and make sure they both are free? The front one is very difficult to get at unless you have very small hands and are double jointed,or you take a lot of bits off.Id also take the plugs out to see what colour they are.

Re: Curvy Carb Question
I recall when I stripped my carbs for cleaning the fuel/air screws were set at 2 1/2 turns on the rear cylinder and only 1/4 of a turn on the front!

Re: Curvy Carb Question
Not the problem just been over to rob a mates, and my bike on his set of carbs seems to hunt at tick over, just starting to get a bit lost with it. Going to refit mine tomorrow, wind the af in on the front cylinder and see what happens, if not I'm not sure if I need someone who knows how to use a dyno or a spanner. Cant believe its electrical as its fine above 2k revs, surely it would be tosh at all revs if its elec related?
