Default Weekend Highland mini tour

Having a mini tour, so would appreciate any advise on these routes and / or things to see and do. As you can see from the routes I'll just collapse in the bar each evening most likely.

Going to set off at daft o'clock Friday 10th May to Grannies Heilan Hame caravan site via Dunnatar Castle by this route http://goo.gl/maps/rY3tN
Saturday a run round the north coast on this route http://goo.gl/maps/VIRAS
Sunday a run to the west on this route on this route http://goo.gl/maps/3Qj4k
Then home on Monday via the scenic route http://goo.gl/maps/5Euep

I wondered about Fort George as I saw it from the point at Rosemarkie when watching the Dolphins a couple of years ago.

Looks a cracking couple of days oot. Will be doing most of these roads myself at various time during this year.

Not tried it myself - but have been told the other side of loch ness - General Wade's Military road is better then the A82 !!!! But you have quite a few miles to do that day, so don't blame you if you give it a miss.

Enjoy.

Wow! Thats a lot of miles.
Looks like you've picked a good weekend - between holiday weekends.
Might be worth watching the weather and being prepared to change the routes based on that. East and West can be very different at times.

A couple of suggestions to tweak your route. Mostly tho, it looks fab as it is, but that day over the north coast will leave you grinning.

At Applecross, if you're approaching via the bealach then you could leave via the coast road, views are fantastic. You join the route again at shieldaig. The bealach isn't as much fun in reverse, and time-wise there isn't much in it.

Heading south on the A82, cut onto the A887, double back to the A87 at cluanie dam to arrive at invergarry -back on the A82.

Enjoy the hols!

Had 4 days there last year [GHH] and I would not recommend the site restaurant. We used a pub in the town with the restaurant upstairs for eating, as you come into the town square from the campsite it is in the left hand corner.
Sorry can't remember the name of it.

Default Weekend Highland mini tour

Hey Mal, I won't call 1500 miles a mini-tour mate!
I hope you enjoy it as you set off tomorrow.

Let us know how you get on.
