Default SV650 Factory Toolkit vs. What?

Well - unfortunately my SV and its original toolkit have parted ways at some point in history.

I was going to eBay an original toolkit to replace it, but just seen this Oxford under seat toolkit and wondering if something like this might be better?

I had the same problem and ended up buying a used kit off eBay and adding other, better quality parts. For me, a puncture repair kit was an essential add-on plus a very compact socket/screwdriver/allen key set. I mixed and matched. That Oxford kit is inadequate in my opinion although it is a good starting point.

This is a proper quality piece of kit, very well made - have added a sachet of silicon grease because although the tyre plugs are coated with some kind of silicon oil, if they are not lubed enough they have a hard time squeezing down the applicator tool nozzle. I reckon the mushroom style plugs are safest as once through the tyre the head expands and the pressure holds it in securely. The Co2 provides a quick blast of pressure to re-seat the bead if it has moved, needs all 4 bottles to get decent pressure into rear tyre, but apparently 2 will do a front.

Agree, had one of these puncture kits under my seat for a while - spare CO2 bottles are readily available from pretty much anywhere (used in air rifles, soda siphons etc.), but this together with standard toolkit plus a decent pair of pliers and a couple of decent spanners does not leave much room for spare headlight bulb (spare turn indicator bulb and a few fuses OK, but headlight bulb just a step too far), almost thinking of a weatherproof container out of sight under rear mudguard for a little extra storage - anyone know of such a thing ?

People asking for extra space for more tools. Don't forget on a pointy you have space under the pillion seat and also the'secret compartment' just in front of the rear shock on the left hand side

"secret compartment" - you mean the place where the factory tool kit should be.
