I've been sorting out my late Dad's stuff. Tucked away in the attic was a Katana, not the bike, the sword. It's a type 95 NCO Katana from the Kokura Arsenal, Suya sword shop. Apparently they were mass produced and are not particularly rare or valuable.

Looks like this one:

only in worse condition.

Apparently a Hyabusa is a Japanese bird of prey that likes to eat Blackbirds, presumably the Honda type, who said Japanese do not have a sense of humour ?

Looks like the new katana is basically a gsx-s1000 with alternative tank, seat/sub frame and fairing...

It's a Peregrine falcon, afaik. So not so prosaic unfortunately. It's just bloody fast.

I'd say a blackbird sits nicely in the food chain between a goldcrest and a woodpigeon

"Feral pigeons are favourite prey wherever they are freely available, though a wide range of birds are taken, ranging in size from goldcrest to woodpigeon."

https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wi...itat-and-food/

Honda never made a "Feral Pigeon RRR" though did they

I think Honda were trying to allude to the SR-71 rather than the feathery flappy thing.
The SR-71 was a beast of a thing, send a ballistic missile after it and all the pilot needs to do is open the taps and accelerate away.

Another teaser from a couple days back showing the tank, which looks very very much like the concept bike we've seen before:
