Which is the sicker part of that, how can that be worse than taking a life.

If he'd lied about stealing a mars bar he wouldn't have got the same time. In a sense the lying and other things added the time based on what he was lying about so it still comes back to the death. Plus a large part of the justice system is about prevention both of new offenses and repeat ones so we give punishment to try to deter future offenders from lying and to lock up for longer those who are more likely to offend again. Something tells me the guy who killed the other with one punch will never hit someone again no matter if he never served a day. |

Yeah I get that, as he pleaded guilty to causing death by being a douchebag. So that would have resulted in a more lenient sentence for that side.
I just think it takes the **** that if he hadn't lied he would have gotten 2 years. It's only 6 because of lying. Plus apparently no time for driving whilst uninsured and banned! Absolute ********. They should stick him in a medieval cage and hang him from the end of a pier. Give him a nutrient drip too so he stays fed and watered to prolong the suffering.

Re: e_petition Brian Hampton Appeal
I think all the punishments seem low given that he's clearly ignored previous warnings and acted with a total disregard for some pretty reasonable laws.
I don't think the differences between the punishments is necessarily wrong though. |

What does it matter if he didn't mean to kill him? he still did. Going around punching people because you were told to stop riding of the pavement is a ridiculous thought process and you don't punch someone without intending to **** them up. They should both be locked up and have tge keys melted down into bullets and fired into their heads in 40 years time.

Re: e_petition Brian Hampton Appeal
As long as that's 40 years of being in a cage hanging over the end of the pier (like that idea). If we all have to pay for their punishment through our taxes that sounds like a much more worth while way to spend it, rather than them being in a warm dry room watching TV.
Could even help boost tourism in our slightly run down coastal destinations. If they do get to spend 40 years watching TV, I'd rather they just got shot now, along with the two that killed Lee Rigby. Don't do nasty **** if you don't want to die, would put more people off.

Re: e_petition Brian Hampton Appeal
quite a lot really
And will pay for that moment for the rest of his life well that's a nice summary of the incident, you were there then to see exactly how all parties acted? I strongly suspect it was nothing like that simple, it seldom is. |
