Loobman.
Eureka ! after years of trying everything from relatively high tech to an oil can I think thank that I may have found the best compromise option. About two months ago I fitted a "Loobman" oiler. Less than £20 and took about 45 minutes to fit. I give it a quick prime before I ride (very quickly becomes routine) and I have a clean well lubed chain with no rear tyre contamination. For me it's by far the best solution that I have found to date.

Re: Loobman.
Never heard of Loobman, but I did find this amusing piece by the company when a journalist tester could not understand simple instructions and fitted it very badly.

Re: Loobman.
Yes I read that, believe me I am a mechanical moron and I fitted it with no issues.

Re: Loobman.
May give it a try, what oil do you use in it ? Do Loobman sell a special oil ?

No they don't but I believe the dedicated oil game is a bit of a racket anyway. I have been using http://www.halfords.com/motoring/eng...80w-90-gl-4-1l

Re: Loobman.
The Loobman works great if fitted right. I've had them on 3 different bikes with no problems. Engine oil works fine.

Re: Loobman.
Got loobmans fitted to at least 3x of my bikes. Can't fault them, simple as anything, easy to adjust and does the job perfectly. Breeze to fit too.

Re: Loobman.
On the NC forum many folk like the Loobman and also the Tutoro variants. Both seem to work fine with some good reports of customer service.
My SV has a Scottoiler. On my NC I fitted a PD Oiler, pre-2016 bikes didn't have a convenient vac source for a standard Scotty and the electronic ones are silly money. The PD Oiler has worked extremely well for the 3yrs or so it's been on, but I'd strongly recommend trying to fit the Mini version with separate reservoir as the filling procedure for the integral unit is horrid (syringe and tube required, nasty). It's a pumping system so essentially not sensitive to temperature/viscosity of the oil, you adjust the intervals between pulses to alter the delivery rate using a simple rotary knob on a little electronic box. An LED shows when it pulses.

Re: Loobman.
just had a look at the PD oiler. with a bit of modification to the mini pump and using one of theses you could fit it to a scottoiler touring rez or indeed a simple bottle for not much dosh
mind you the same timer and a widscreen washer pump would do the same thing. |
