Smile Is the Oxford Boss Disc Alarm for me?

Just got my insurance for £199.82 fully comprehensive

Seems A-Quote can use your car no claims for your bike

I no longer want a alarm/ immob but I want something to act as a deterant and this seems to be the answer:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...ionsAndAnswers

At £42 including delivery, it looks to be the cheapest price around.

I've been told this will fit under my bikes seat.

So would members recommend this please. If the consensus is yes, I'll be ordering one ASAP.

Thanks

Any deterrent is better than nothing. A disk lock will do nothing other than deter the local scum bag wheeling it down the road and then trying to hot wire it.

Anyone else that wants it then a disk lock will just make them laugh. Get a little led red light with a flasher unit and install that somewhere to give the impression it's alarmed.

If a thief wants it, they will take it. All you can do is make your bike less attractive to steal than someone elses. I do this not by fitting alarms but by crashing them.

I've got one of these.

Its decent enough, but i have no idea how well it stands up to attack.

Negatives include it being very heavy and it takes quite a few batteries, that don't last long if you leave it alarmed all the time.

I used to have one too, but had to sell it because I couldn't get it through the disc on my (then) new bike, so watch for fitting. It was fine on a pointy SV with standard discs though.

Also have a look at Xena.

That is what I have now and the design is much more compact than the Boss, but with a similar, if not louder alarm. Cost was about the same as the Boss, but again, check to make sure it fits first!
