Default I-405 freeway

I commuted on this (LA) freeway for 4 years before I changed jobs:

there were odd sections where it would pick up speeds but this video would be typical of a Friday evening.

Why is it called a 'freeways? ... nothing free about any of that! And I thought the M25 was bad.

...because on the east coast they had "Turnpikes" where you pay a toll.

The I-405 had a bad reputation even for LA. Heading south on I-5, the I-405 branches off, north of Los Angeles to hug the coast, passes LAX and rejoins I-5 at the El Toro "Y" in Orange County, at that reunion it's 22 lanes wide.

Fun fact: odd number interstate highways run north/south, even number interstate hwys run east /west

I see, it looks horrific tbh, wouldn't want to be anywhere near it if at all possible.
