Unhappy puncture repair kit

stupid question,i was out yesterday and picked up a nail in my back tyre ,i was able to make it back to a shop(glasgow ducati )where they could fix it there and then.i paid 23£ and left about 1/2 hr later ,this was a ride-in ride -out service ,(told me the wheel would have to come off )however when i got home and had a good look at it theres no sign that the wheels been off(bolts been disturbed ,chain tension diff....).bottom line is i think hes just plugged it with one of those repair kits that i could have done myself.so now i have to get a kit just in case (i was out in the wilds when i noticed,if it was totally flat id have been in trouble)it happens again.ive been meaning to get a tyre repair kit for a while ,this has brought it forward (ive been all over the place without one n-i as well )so my (stupid) question is ,how do you use them (tubeless tyre puncture repair kits)??and what am i looking for?more specifically where will i get one ?just go into hg?thanks all the

I used the Hein gericke kit last year - works a treat

IIRC correctly, the order of use is something like this:-

1) Insert spikey hook thing into hole and ram in and out a few times (oooeeerrr) to roughen up the edges.

2) Smear the spikey hook thing with glue and insert in to hole again to spread the glue around

3) Smear the rubber loop with glue

4) Hook the rubber loop onto the hook and insert 3/4 of the way into the hole

5) Cut of the excess on the outside of the hole

6) Connect the gas canister

7) Re-inflate and ride home

You do get instructions in the pack - i had never used one before, and managed to repair a tyre that was already several miles past it's 'best before date' and then ride 300 miles home with no problems whatsoever.

Don't forget those repair kits are only suppost to be temperary just to get you home or to the nearest garage! I would question the repair that the garage did if they say it is a perminant fix!

I'm going to Heine G soon - how much are these kits ? I see that some come with 3 gas canisters and some dont. No good having a fixed tyre with no air in it !

Ask for the full kit first time around and after that you only need to buy the plugs(£5 for ten strips). All you need is some canisters and you are sorted. I've never had the need for canisters but it's a good idea to have some.

For ME it's a permanent repair but that's just me .
I've been using it for almost ten years and never let me down.
