Default Help Me Get From Aberdeen to Stratford Upon Avon (Cheap)

Last minute plan to go to Global Gathering at the end of July.

Basically, I have no experience with travelling much out of Scotland. Only been to England once.

What would be the cheapest way to get to Stratford Upon Avon from Aberdeen using pulic transport? Driving a car is out of the question!

Aberdeen has a bus depot, train station and a airport!

Any ideas you travelling people of the world?

Worth a few beer tokens at the AR for the winner

You sure you want to go? I live 20 mins away and can get cheap tickets but the lineup is so crap I've decided to give it a miss this year.

Have a look on the global gathering wesite forums. There are bound to be others planning similar journeys. There may even be special busses organised.

Aww cheers for the offer MBK

L3nny, yeah I do, line-up looks good and tickets are only £99!

And it means we get a chance to go on tours with the lads!

Just looked at the happy bus, leaves Aberdeen 11pm on Thursday night, could be a long journey haha

Note for the future, I paid £14 to get to Montrose from London the other week and £18 to get back - 2 trains a day which start/terminate @ Aberdeen

You just have to book 12 weeks in advance

Not so useful for this, but thought I would share for the future

Also, there's the old trick of pricing up the train journey in bits, as it often works out cheaper.

So, wherever the train stops at - price it up between stops and see what the tickets come to, compared to the whole trip.

Here you go - he explains it better than me!

See if local WI is doing a Shakespeare trip that day. You might even get lucky!
( They usually take a spare sheep or two on long trips )

Stratford Upon Avon is a polupar destination, coach trip may be the answer. Otherwise book a train ticket about a month in advance to Birmingham and you should see a huge saving. Bring a lid and see if we can all take you a little bit further, maybe a link up of SV movement down the country. Could be fun.

Think the way forward is the happy bus haha
Leaves aberdeen 23:00 Thursday!

Returns Sunday at 12 noon!

It isn't just me going, hopefully quite a few mates, maybe too much for a SV relay haha

Cheers though
