2002 sv650s loud ticking noise. - SV650.org

Hi My sv650s has a loud ticking noise for the last 2 weeks and suddenly got louder, loss of power (wont go past 70-80mph) the noise seems to be coming from the front cylinder area. Have changed spark plugs over....any suggestions? helpppppppppp.............

I had the same except the loss of power and was told it was the water pump, prehaps someone like YC will come along with a better explanation.

i say this as you are saying there is a loss in power and ticking from front cylinder

1) check the cam chain and timing by hand as per haynes manual, you may need to unjam the tentioner
2) if that all goes well you can move on to checking if the sparks are firing correctly, swap them around and see if the problem folows

Stop using the bike now!!

am with TSM its a serious issue (engine probably will go bang!) if you keep running the bike.
Either try and solve it or arrange a tow in to a mechanics
