Really sorry to hear about this, I hope the cost isn't too much to fix up the bike. At least you're OK, thats the important thing.

That's awful. Is there anything you can do with regards filing a claim against the police?

This has happened several times around where I live - but usually I'm more in danger of getting run over as a pedestrian. It's impossible to tell which direction the sirens are coming from with a helmet on unless the lights are flashing in front somewhere...

Why? The woman in front braked, the OP should've been able to stop in time, not lock the front. Not to put you down heros, could happen to any of us, but it doesn't make much sense to try and blame the police, if you ask me.

Fraid I don't have any spare bits for a K5, but I hear tell that there's some GSXR ones that are compatible? Might be easier to find, SV ones are in demand on the grounds that we're always breaking them

yeah im not blaming the police coz theres no point in doing so, but imo i had no time to stop due to the woman stopping instantly n not indicating so im lucky i didnt hit into the back of her tbh, taking bike down to garage tmoz hopefully n see if i can get it priced up so i need a new rearset, back brake lever n footpeg. how much would you say im looking at im reckoning £400ish?

Yep, she shouldn't have hammered on the brakes like that... But then, you should always have space to stop, which is the lesson here. I learned that one pretty early too

Frame scratched That's bad news. For sure?

How much damage is there that stops you from riding? Generally the bills add up if you try and get it good as new but if you don't mind stuff like tank dents it's much cheaper. I ran mine around with big dents and cracks all over for about a year, it didn't go any slower
