I just poured some into a bowl and then dipped some fine wet'n'dry paper into it and lightly rubbed. You'll get a lovely brown mud appear, just rinse that off and keep going. I used steel wool too.

I should point out that i was wearing rubber gloves too.

I would highly recommend eye protection, it's so easy to splash your eyes while working on a bike as it tends to be close proximity, this stuff'll snatch your eyesight from you

Not bad at all. Sadly i cant find my solvol to polish them but nevertheless...

Toothpaste is a,"Fine" abrasive that can be used for polishing.Also any cheap Auto type T-cut/colour restorer works good.

Usually not at all arsed about cleaning exhausts so I've bought a bottle from Tesco, might give it a whizz tomorrow. Might as well tidy it all up before I put the Gixxer front end on in April

It's great and everything, but they brown off again in about a fortnight's worth of normal day to day use.
