Default "CHEC" and no "zzzzzz" sound.

Before I explain what's happened, I'm hoping it's something as simple as a fuse, or, even simpler, that I've accidently hit the killswitch! (I can't check the bike right now, it is at my girlfriend's place).

The bike is a K7 Naked (pointy).

Anyway, here's what happened ... I'd been riding my bike fine in the afternoon, rode to my girlfriend's parked it up.

I came out at 11:30pm to go home, put the key in the ignition, turned it and three things happened (or didn't happen):

1) I didn't get that "zzzzzzz ... pip!" sound that you normally get before you can press the ignition.
2) It showed a message saying "CHEC" (the Haynes manual is wonderfully vague about that message!).
3) When I held the clutch in and pressed the ignition, all that happened was the headlight went dim.

Note that I checked and double checked and triple checked that the bike was in neutral. I rolled it backwards and forwards to check.

At the time it was dark and I was tired, so I though, "sod it!", and asked my girlfriend to run me home.

In the light of day, however, I have my sensible hat on and I'm thinking that because it has never failed to start before and because I was riding it around just fine only earlier that day, then there can't be anything seriously wrong with it!

I didn't check the killswitch (it was dark, I was tired!).

If it isn't the killswitch, does it sound like something as simple as a fuse? If so, which one?

As I say, I would be astounded if it was something serious, I have had no problems whatsoever with it since I got it!

It's probably the killswitch then. I'm such a noodle! That's what being tired will do for you!

There's a sensor so the motorbike knows when you're holding the clutch.

It is located under the clutch lever assembly, more or less like the brake light switch is under the front brake lever.
(I'm sorry my English is not good enough to properly explain myself! )

I would check that, as it seems it can be prone to get loose and the bike won't start if it is not where it should be.

Hope it's nothing more serious than that!

The starter motor won't engage but the fuel pump will prime with the clutch out...
