The pictures shown aren't ones that he took. The article says he 'captured images like this one'.
They might look like a bag o crap for all we know. Not sure it's even real.
If he had a GPS tranmitter and Reciever why would he need a bigTV arial?

I saw some of the pictures he took, not bad at all considering how much he spent. For £500 he took some very nice edge of space shots.

You can just stick a G1 phone using gps tracker application, then track where its landed via another phone. 22 mile high and a 50 mile drift is plausible.
