Triumph fuel tank removal - stupid question time.
My bikes a Triumph Tt600. I need to remove the tank and air box to replace the throttle cable. I've only ever lifted the tank on my cbr600f which was carbs and had a fuel on/off switch. This bike is FI so has no switch. When i remove the hoses am i right in thinking that it won't pour petrol out, just the small amount in them?
Apologies if that's a dumb ass question, better to be safe than sorry!! Kj x |

correct. It shouldn't pee out petrol. Only a small amount will come out of the pipes when you disconnect them.
Agreed, safe not sorry! |

Careful though, the plastic connectors have a reputation for breaking easily.

Yes I'd read that somewhere. I'm in no hurry to get it back together, it can sit in bits for a while if i need to source more parts. its my usual.experience that if it can go wrong it will!!!

Why did you sell the CBR in favour of a TT600?

ohh and let the bike stand for a while if the pump has been primed, there will be a lot of pressure in the fuel lines and it will spray out usually all over you and the bike.

Re: Fuel tank removal - stupid question time..
I went from my curvy to the TT and had a great summer on it, including AR 10 but had to make the decision to sell it a couple of months later to pay off some debts. Then i bought the cbr which was just as good and had a great summer on that last year. It was purely by accident that i happened to see my TT advertised and i just had to have it back.
I've never ridden either bike to anywhere near its limits and whilst i don't doubt the cbr is a better bike on paper, it's always been the TT that made me smile more, and to me that's what its all about!! |
